Did You Know?

Have you ever wondered why the two flat prongs on plugs have holes in them?

According to www.howstuffworks.com and www.straightdope.com, there are four reasons for these holes.Plug LOTO
  1. Bumps inside the outlet grip the holes so that the plug fits more securely.
  2. The holes allow the appliance or device to be locked-out by placing a tie or lock through one or both of the holes.
  3. The holes are used to hold the prongs in place while the plastic part of the plug is molded to them.
  4. There is a small savings in raw materials.
